Harvie family, please give a big welcome to our new Student Support Teacher, Dr. William Caten!

Dr. Bill Caten is excited to join the Harvie Family as he begins his 31st year in education. He holds an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. During his tenure as a Principal, Dr. Caten successfully guided multiple schools to reach and maintain full state accreditation targets. He is champion for innovation and introduced the first STEAM Lab and National Elementary Junior Honor Society at his previous school. His deep instructional foundation as a Title I math, 4th and 5th grade, and special education teacher allows him to support a wide range of student learning needs. Dr. Caten prioritizes student well-being and building strong home-school connections, having led community engagement and literacy initiatives. Most recently, his work as a School Quality Specialist has prepared him to provide expert student support and instructional coaching. He is eager to get to know our Harvie students and families while empowering our entire school community.
