Laptop and Charger Collection - Thursday and Friday
As the school year draws to a close, we are preparing for laptop and charger collection. Please review the details below, and thank you in advance for discussing the information with your student. This information will be shared with students through our morning announcements.
Pocahontas Laptop and Charger Collection
Laptop and Charger collection will occur on Thursday and Friday, May 22nd and 23rd.
Thursday's collection will focus on 6th grade AND any student attending the Chorus field trip on Friday. We may be able to begin 7th grade collection, if time allows.
Students taking 6th and/or 8th block final exams on Thursday AND going on the field trip on Friday must turn in their computer at the completion of their last final exam.
Friday, we will collect the remaining 7th and 8th-grade computers/chargers.
Please have your student charge their computer before collection.
When students go through the collection process, the machine is turned on to check for any issues that may be repaired over the summer.
Students enrolled in HCPS summer programs or classes will receive stickers indicating their need to keep their computers/chargers.
If your student is NOT enrolled in a summer program and needs to keep their computer longer than next Thursday/Friday, please contact their grade level school counselor/admin.
As students move through the collection process, their computer and charger will be scanned. If they turn in a device that is not assigned to them, they will be informed.
After collection is complete, we will contact parents/guardians of students who have not submitted their charger and/or computer.
We appreciate everyone's patience during device collection. Our staff will take their time to make sure items are carefully reviewed and scanned, ensuring our information is thorough and accurate.
Thank you for your support! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Clothing for Cash
As you are cleaning out closets during Spring cleaning?!?! We encourage you to bring donations to our Clothing for Cash Bin.
Do you have clothing items you are ready to donate? Please use the Clothing to Cash bin located in the Pocahontas Middle School parking lot. The Clothing to Cash School Program is designed to fundraise for our school by collecting new and gently used clothes, shoes and textiles. For each pound of materials donated to the program, the school earns money that is put towards student and staff recognition and incentives.
Library Book Collection - All Library Books Due by May 9th
As we near the end of the school year, it is important that every book in the Pocahontas library is accounted for. Library books were due by Friday, May 9. Our records show several students have yet to return their library materials, please check with your student to be sure all library books are returned ASAP.
If their book has been permanently lost, the student will receive a bill for the replacement cost of the book. This bill may be paid by cash or check made out to Pocahontas Middle School.
Students with outstanding books and/or bills on their account will not be allowed to participate in the Field Day event during the last week of school (5/28).
All questions can be directed to the Pocahontas librarian, Ms. Walker (mawalker3@henrico.k12.va.us) Thank you so much for your help in getting all our books back to the library!
Student ID Collection
All student ID cards will be turned in at the end of the school year. The ONLY exception is for students who are attending Summer Academy. Students attending any HCPS summer program will keep their student ID card.
Student ID cards will be collected on the last day of school, May 30.
Students will be issued new student ID cards for the 2025-26 school year.
